A superb quality 19th Century Japanese Meiji period shibayama shodhana, the rectangular top with a decorative pierced and carved shaped gallery above a pair of sliding doors, a stepped niche and an arrangement of drawers and cupboard with further decorative pierced and carved gallery, the door and drawer fronts profusely inlaid and applied throughout with fish, insects, birds and floral decoration, wonderful decorative carving throughout the frame of the cabinet, supported on scroll feet with a carved leaf apron. Lovely quality and in excellent condition. Circa 1880.
